Model Based Video Coding
Using 3D polygon based models for video coding
Model based video coding addresses the question of how to use segmented models in representing, transmitting and decoding video in very low bitrate applications. Examples include but are not limited to MPEG4, video teleconferencing, private video phones, and cable TV transmissions. One of the most intuitive segmented models is to represent the objects in the world using a true 3D representation instead of many 2D views. By using a true 3D representation, we can send rotation and translation parameters for the movements of the 3D objects instead of the 2D images.
