Introduction

Voicesearch is about as the name suggests, using your voice for doing the search on a webpage. Before it was all textual, now its possible to make it more dynamic,interactive and appealing to the users.

Voicesearch relies on the Microsoft Agent technology,and Microsoft Agent is the tool used for making such interactive webpages.

The Agent is a small program,which can be programmed to interact with the users on the webpage. It talks to the users,asks them to speak the words they wish to search for, and takes them to the desired website.

Why Voicesearch

The main reason for us to do this project was its ease of use and appealing technology. So far no search engines have been developed which rely on the users voice for performing searches on the webpage. This in itself is very appealing to make such a new thing.

The ease of use is what makes it more attractive. People whom are not so familiar with computers and have a hard time understanding and operating them,for them it will be of great use. Here we can mainly think of old people, whom are not so comfortable with using all the new technologies.

Similary unfamiliarity with the correct spellings of particular words users with to search on , won't be a problem anymore. Even if you don't know the exact spellings,but just speak out the words,it can be in different ways as well,still you are able to perform a search.

Voicesearch can be extended to online dictionaries. Think of users wishing to know the meaning of some particular word,but just don't know the exact spellings. This is a high possibility when your not familiar with the word you wish to use. It would be of tremendous benefit to them, doing the search based on voice.

Last but certainly not the least is the appealing look it gives to the website and the feel. This certainly attracts lots of users,especially if the technology is not being used elsewhere,and your the first one to actually implement it. If it works well, and users are able to use it with ease, it will keep on attracting those users back and certainly other more curious and interested users as well. This is the main aim of all websites,which ultimately is our goal as well.
